Dream Come TrueIn the Fall of 2006, my biggest dream came true - I launched my CD, Simply Me! Simply Me is a quality CD of my favorite songs sung in various styles. Barry Allan, of Homestead Recorders, selected professional musicians and shared my acoustic vision for the CD. This project was a huge undertaking and was worth every effort. With an introduction to song writing, the possibilities are endless. I'm inspired by songwriters. I still believe in keeping the favorites alive. A fondness for the traditional folk styles has motivated me to study the claw-hammer banjo stylings of Pete Seager. My new-found connections to Bluegrass have encouraged me to work on, what some say, is the traditional mandolin style. All this stimulation has stirred an instinctive passion that will keep me going for years to come. Growing up surrounded by music, in the nation's capital, is where it all began. With training from the Ottawa Little Theatre Company, the Ottawa Board of Education Central Choir, the Alumni Choir, the Savoy Society, and years of family gatherings; I have learned many styles of performance. As the lead singer and mandolin player for Stewed Roots, I have fostered a love for folk music – the kind of music you grew up on and will grow old with. Since the recording of “Simply Me” in 2007, I have found a well of opportunities. I enjoy sharing my style and sound with a wider audience. There's nothing like performing for festival crowds. Canada has so much to offer. “Have reliable wheels, will travel.” Alberta is filled with Performing Arts Theatres that are ripe for new experiences. I am looking forward to appreciating those home-town crowds.
